If you’re investing in your house by redecorating the inside, the best thing you can do is take it slow when selecting a contractor to do the job. Take your time, follow these tips, and make sure you feel good about the painter you hire for the job.

 

#1 – Ask for a warranty. Paint jobs don’t last forever. A quality painter will do a good job with your home, but it’s smart to request a warranty, somewhere in the three years range. Check the warranty, once it’s written, to make sure that it’s clear, and covers what you want it to.

 

#2 – Peruse local directories to read customer reviews, or even call the Better Business Bureau. Look into the Calgary house painters that you’re thinking of hiring. If somebody has had a particularly positive experience working with them, they’ll probably have mentioned it in an online customer review. No business owner can please everyone, but your contractor should not have a history of complaints either. Do your research.

 

#3 – Get your contract in writing. Make sure that you understand everything in it. If there’s something you don’t understand or if the Calgary house painters don’t appear to be forthcoming about their items, go with another contractor.

 

#4 – Ask about prep work. A quality house painter will know exactly what’s necessary to prep your home for the job. Prep work should include, at a minimum, scraping, priming, caulking, and washing. Make sure you’re comfortable with your contractor’s level of expertise.
